A NEW Co-operative store will open in Muir of Ord on Wednesday following a £570,000 investment in the village by the retail group.

The new 2,000sqft store, located in the former Forbes bakery and grocery shop, has created 19 jobs in the local area.

To celebrate the re-opening of the store in Great North Road, children from Tarradale Primary School in Muir of Ord will help staff cut the ribbon.

The Co-op will also be staging a series of events and promotions from mid-day until 6pm on the opening day and 11am until 5pm on Friday and Saturday.

Gemma McNab, the new manager at the Great Northern Road store, said: "The Co-operative is a community retailer and we are committed to playing a real role in local life. It is fantastic that pupils from our local schools can join us to share in our special day.

"Our stores provide an ideal location for people to shop locally. It is important to all the members of staff here that we meet people’s needs and we are all looking forward to welcoming our new customers."

The store will be open from 7am to 10pm, every day.
