Banff Town Hall and associated retail units up for sale
Offers are being sought for a prominent A-listed building in the heart of a town.
Banff Town Hall and associated retail units on the town’s Castle Street are now surplus to Aberdeenshire Council requirements.
An Aberdeenshire Council spokesperson said: “Flexible office accommodation, meeting rooms or an enterprise hub with space for makers such as workshop studios may be potential options, but equally the building could provide an opportunity for a unique residential redevelopment.
“With a gross internal space of 531sqm, the property is located just a short distance from the main shopping area on High Street and Low Street.
“Boasting frontages onto Castle Street with aspect towards the iconic Banff Castle and grounds, the detached building is on a corner location set within the Banff Conservation Area.
“Completed in 1854, the premises have some later 20th century additions, comprising retail space on the ground floor and the former town hall on the first floor. There is also an area of garden ground at the rear of the main building.
“The building has a two-story, symmetrical structure designed in the Italianate style, featuring five bays on the principal elevation facing Castle Street, and a narrower gable with three bays facing Seafield Street.
“The former town hall is served by mains gas, water and electricity, while the ground floor retail units have mains water and electricity.”
