Cornish set for December show
A THIRD professional boxing evening will take place at the Drumossie Hotel on Friday 7th December.
The success of the past shows, which are organised by Chris Gilmour Boxing and Caley Jags Together, has also brought in a new sponsor — Highland-based company Norscot.
Topping the bill is set to be Inverness heavyweight Gary Cornish, who will be making his second appearance in the city in three months.
The unbeaten 25-year-old heads up a bill that also features fellow local hero Alastair Chisholm, former Commonwealth champion Willie Limond and unbeaten Aberdonian Matthew McAllister at the Ironworks on Friday 28th September.
Cornish has already racked up eight straight victories (three by knockout) since turning professional last year and has been hugely impressive in his two previous hometown appearances.
"Gary has been busy since he turned pro last year, but the next few months will see him really step it up as he fights twice in Inverness in pretty quick succession," said his manager Tommy Gilmour.
"It’s up to Gary to repay the faith shown in him by his hometown supporters by putting on a pair of performances to be proud of.
"Featuring Gary in his native Inverness is only possible with the help of sponsorship and it is magnificent that such an established company as Norscot sees the potential in Gary and is backing the December show.
Norscot, a family owned business, is a leading manufacturer of energy efficient timber frame kit homes, windows and doors.
"We are thrilled to be involved with the boxing night and in particular Gary "The Highlander" Cornish," said a spokesman for the Norscot directors.
"Like Gary, we are proud Highland heavyweights who have built up a UK following. We have been at the previous shows in the Drumossie and when the sponsorship opportunity for the December event came up we jumped at the chance to be part of this superb night"
Tickets for the Drumossie show are priced at £1000 for a table of 10 or £100 per person and include a champagne reception and three-course dinner.
