PRINCESS Anne attended a ceremony at Inverness Cathedral today where she was installed as the first chancellor of the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Her role will be both ceremonial and ambassadorial and she will now represent the university in the UK and overseas.

One of Princess Anne’s first duties was to present former principal, professor Robert Cormack, and chair of the board of governors, Colin MacKay, with honorary fellowships.
