Keith Grammar School head teacher praises determination of pupils at awards night as Cassie Findlay wins Dux
KEITH Grammar School pupils have been recognised for a year of hard work with an array of awards.
Pupils from S6 all the way down to S1 received recognition for their efforts – with the Dux going to Cassie Findlay, who was also, along with Dodie Simmers, joint-winner of the Moray Young Citizen of the Year.
The S6 All Round Prize was awarded to Kirstie Low, while the Focus 350 Prize went to Gregor Clark. The Jamus Macpherson Prize for all round academic attainment and wider achievement went to Jessica Morrison.
Head teacher Alan Bruce lauded the “determination and resilience” of young people at the awards, which took place on Tuesday.
Mr Bruce, who took over in the head teacher role in November 2020, said that standards set by pupils at Keith Grammar had “surpassed the impact of a global pandemic”.
Speaking at the awards event, he said: “This event is not only a celebration of the winners of academic and special awards, it is a celebration of our school community and every young person at Keith Grammar.
“We have seen significant changes at Keith Grammar School, particularly over the last two years. No one could have foreseen the impact of Covid-19 in early 2020 and yet young people have continued to set high expectations and standards that have surpassed the impact of a global pandemic.
“Your determination, resilience and courage to keep going when it has been at its most difficult is a true inspiration. It shows a strength of character to keep going when life is at its hardest and it just shows your potential to continue on to achieve great things."
