A first look inside the palliative care suite at Turriff Hospital
A new video has been posted by Friends of Turriff Community Hospital (FOTCH) showing a sneak peak of the completed work which has been undertaken at the site to create a new palliative suite.
A spokesperson for the group said: "Thank you to every single person past and present, business and organisation who gave so generously to allow this fantastic project to happen.
"This has been years in the planning but it has been worth it to create a significant extension to the medical facility to help families through a very difficult time."
The palliative care suite provides an area next to a loved one to allow family to be together.
This additional facility has a lounge area with sofa bed; TV; and items including tea and coffee making facilities and microwave to create a homely atmosphere.
The first conversations about the palliative care suite started more than eight years ago, with the first idea being put to NHS Grampian to sanction the build.
In February 2015 the NHS Grampian Endowment Fund agreed to the proposed ideas and to assist with financial support.
FOTCH commenced additional fundraisers and a savings account was set aside for the build.
FOTCH were to contribute 85 per cent of the build with the NHS Grampian Endowment Fund meeting the remaining 15 per cent.
Effectively the complete build and kitting out of the suite will be 100 per cent funded by donations.
Building work started just over a year ago in September 2022 and it joins a huge number of major items for the hospital funded by the group over a 30 year plus period which has included refurbishment and redecoration of the hospital: X-Ray department, ultrasound scanner, heart monitors for hospital and health centre and refurbishment of the day room.
