Ythan sweeps the board at Haddo Dirt Crit





The Go-Ride Haddo Dirt Crit drew a crowd of enthusiastic young riders and their support crews to the normally peaceful grounds of Haddo House for a morning of fun, but decidedly competitive, racing.

The under-8s kicked off proceedings.

With 21 riders it was the largest field of the day and Josh Sharp of TENS was first overall, while Ythan CC’s Jacob Hall claimed his seconnd place on the podium.

Fellow Ythanite, Matthew Moran, finished in fourth place.

First girl was Eden Thomson of Deeside Thistle.

Ythan’s Isabella Smith finished second girl and placed third overall.

Charlotte Cordiner, also of Ythan, put in a sterling effort during the fun-filled, but nonetheless demanding race.

In the under-10s, Deeside Thistle’s Zara Main was the winner, ahead of Ythan riders Amy Stewart (fourth girl) and Charlie King (fifth boy).

The under-12s race was won by Ross Eataugh of Grampian Tigers, ahead of Hope Thomson (Deeside Thistle).

Matthew Smith (Ythan CC) claimed third place in the boys’ race, with fellow Ythan rider, Euan Murphy, coming in sixth.

In the girls’ race, Ythan’s Eilidh Gronkowski finished in fourth place, with Emily Hall finishing in sixth.

Ythan riders dominated the U14 race with Gavin Gronkowski the clear winner, ahead of Grampian Tigers rider Reubens Thomson.

Ythan’s Robert Smart took third place, securing his first podium finish.

Ythan rider Aidan Topping finished in a fantastic fourth place in his first ever cycling race, while Andrew Ingram crossed the line in sixth place.

The club’s Erin Murphy claimed first place in the U14 girls’ race.
