Garioch senior bowlers lose out to Inverness

It will have been a long journey back from Inverness on Wednesday after a defeat like this writes Mike Barron.

It is Garioch’s lowest score this and last year and this was only Inverness’s second victory in eight matches this season.

Rink Scores:-

Dave Gray (Inverness) 25 Ron Booth (Garioch) 6.

Stuart Christie 19 Brian Reid 11.

Jean Millwood 22 Gary McDonald 8.

Alan Robinson 23 Bill Barclay13.

The home club were expecting a close game on their own carpet despite being well beaten at Inverurie 49-79 so Inverness were staggered at the way the match went.

Garioch took a time to find the carpet and some ends were close, but Gray against Ron Booth, scored regularly and

won by 19 shots.

The Brian Reid rink had an even first half, but Christie (Inverness) upped his game and Garioch lost 11-19.

Gary MacDonald was up against Inverness’s skip Jean Willwood and in her third match as skip she finished 23-8.

Bill Barclay rink scored 13 points against Inverness’s Alan Robinson who had his best score of the season.

He won by 9 shots.

In the North A League Garioch have beaten Inverness, Turriff and Buchan and sit with 6 points, but they have to play Elgin at home next week and then Turriff at home.
