North Senior Bowling Champions will be competing in the Scottish Singles at Garioch Indoor Bowling on Sunday, December 10 writes Mike Barron.

Top payers from Inverness to Perth will be competing.

Geoff Simpson won the Garioch Senior K.O. championship last winter, and he meets L G Stewart from Turriff at 10am that day.

Also in the preliminary round will be Aberdeen’s Bill Blackwood v John Wright of Perth.

The winners will meet in the First Round.

In that round at 2pm will also be Fraserburgh’s Gordon Young v Iain Nicol of Perth, with the Inverness champion taking on Forfar’s Lawrence Torrie.

Forfar’s player is competing as he was 2022/23 champion despite Forfar’s stadium having closed in the summer.

Geoff Simpson with Alf Aspey represented Garioch in the Scottish Pairs playdowns and now represent North clubs in the latter stages of the competition.

Geoff and Alf beat Elgin 16-13 and Stonehaven 19-13 to qualify for next rounds in January.

They next play on January 12.
