Garioch bowlers win against Fraserburgh

Garioch Indoor Bowling Club's gents team had a great victory over joint North League leaders Fraserburgh at the weekend, writes Mike Barron.
Garioch prior to the match were even with Fraserburgh, with four matches played and four won.
To win 90-59 showed the strength of the home team. Both had scored well both home and away.
Garioch now go into 2023 confident of retaining the lead. Especially in the early matches.
In the game against Fraserburgh all four rinks won. It was very even at the start but it was in the second half that Garioch scored well end after end. The score at end five was level.
Lee Collins had the biggest win 24-13, and this was against Bradley Buchan, the recent Scottish Junior Singles champion.
Jason Banks is in Australia so his father Colin moved up to be skip. He drew well throughout to win by 20-11. A fine nine-shot victory.
Alan Rough, who is having a good season, won again this time 19-17. All four players drew well, the match nearing the final end was difficult to predict, but the home team kept their two-shot lead.
Brian Reid was the fourth skip and he came home with a margin of four shots to win 27-18.
The score was big but unexpectedly by a margin of 31 shots and two valuable points.
To be the league leaders Garioch have beaten Forfar away, Arbroath at home, Buchan at home, Stonehaven away and now Fraserburgh at home.
The next tie in 2023 will be Forfar at home, followed by Arbroath away which will be tough, and then Buchan who have a tricky carpet.
Stonehaven comes next, and what could be a title decider is the fixture away to Fraserburgh.
