The train line between Aberdeen and Dundee has reopened after a track defect was found near Stonehaven.

ScotRail halted all services after a safety inspection of the track between Laurencekirk and Stonehaven earlier this afternoon.

Those intending to travel were asked to check for the latest updates on routes to and from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

In its latest update at 4pm Scotrail has said: "Following a safety inspection of the track earlier today between Laurencekirk and Stonehaven all lines have now reopened.

"Disruption is expected to last until around 5pm."
