Turriff's fundraising generosity supports local causes





Several local fundraisers which were held over the Christmas period in Turriff have provided a boost to local causes as donations were handed over to recipients this week.

During the World Cup, local podcasters Two Blokes and a Mike held a sweepstake competition and raised a massive £1000 for Turriff United Youth FC.

Handing over the cheque on Thursday evening a spokesperson for the club said; "On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to say a huge thank you and we are really grateful for this generosity."

Thursday also saw Turriff running club hand over a donation raised from the Den Dasher to Turriff fire station to go to the Christmas collection effort during which the decorated engine travelled round the town for a street collection.

A spokesman for the station said: "We can now also say a massive thank you to everyone in town for all the donations giving during our Christmas collection, it truly is humbling

"Thanks to TRC donation and our Christmas collection we raised over £4000 and a massive thank you again from all at Turriff fire station .

"Our efforts will now be split between the fire fighters charity and local causes.

One of the biggest spectacles of the festive season was the charity tractor run in aid of the air ambulance, which saw nearly 80 vehicles take part on December 27 and which has now been confirmed as raising over £3180 for SCAA.
