Aberdeenshire school pupils who made an award-nominated book were “absolutely delighted” to meet the Prime Minister.
Monymusk School pupils in primaries one to three produced Jock's Daunder Roon Monymusk, which tells an original story in Doric, along with an account of how their volume was produced.
It teaches readers the Doric language while following the adventures of local legend, Jock the Giant o' Bennachie.
Monymusk School won the Scots School o' the Year awards in September, while the book was nominated for the Scots Bairns Book o' the Year.
Local MP Andrew Bowie took pupils to see Rishi Sunak, after the PM received his own copy of the book last year.
Mr Bowie said: “I gave the PM a copy of Jock’s Daunder when the school and pupils were nominated for the awards last year.
“We were delighted that Monymusk’s work keeping Doric current has been recognised.
“The children were absolutely delighted to visit the UK Parliament and to meet Rishi.
“We all agreed that, judging by their work, the language is in good hands for the future.”
