A RISING star on the Highland music scene is coming to Thurso in February.

Scottish singer-songwriter James Mackenzie has teamed up with Belfast duo The 1930s for a co-headline UK tour which will make its way to Y-Not Bar and Grill on February 11.

The seven-date tour will support Mackenzie’s forthcoming acoustic mini album Curtain Road, which is scheduled for release on February 7.

Mackenzie explained the mini album was produced by Grammy-award-winner Steve Orchard who has worked in the past with big names such as Travis, Chris Cornell and Bela Fleck.

"Curtain Road was recorded at Strongroom Studios in London and working with Steve was a fantastic experience," said Mackenzie.

"It’s definitely my strongest material to date and I just can’t wait to get it out there. The 1930s are a great new band and I’m really looking forward to starting 2012 with a new release and UK-wide tour."
