Firefighters tackle blaze at Nairn sawmill

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a Nairn sawmill last night.

A fire broke out at John Gordon and Sons sawmill on Balblair Road and crews were called to the seen at 6.45pm.

It took firefighters three hours to get the flames under control.

No-one was injured as a result of the fire.

Four appliances attended the scene, two from Inverness and two from Nairn and a hydraulic platform from Inverness control was also required.

Crews attended the scene this morning to do a final check, but the flames were fully doused out by 9.01pm last night.

The building suffered 30 per cent fire damage and suffered 50 per cent smoke damage.

An investigation by the fire service is now under way.
