Caithness Sutherland and Ross MSP Rob Gibson has called on the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and energy companies to team up with the Scottish Government to help solve a longstanding transport issue for North Sutherland and Caithness.

Mr Gibson’s call came during a question to the Transport Minister Keith Brown.

Rob asked the Minister if he would treat the upgrade of the Berriedale braes on the A9 with the utmost urgency and seek partners such as the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and potential energy developers to deliver this much needed improvement.

Mr Brown welcomed the suggestion of involving the NDA and other parties as constructive and said it was something he would be looking into.

He also said that Transport Scotland had carried out a geo-technical study into whether or not the ground would be suitable at Berriedale for widening or realignment. The study concluded that it would.
