Jail for man who threatened to cut throats of police officer's family
A sheriff has jailed a Highlands man for 18 weeks for threatening to burn down a police officer's home and to cut the throats of the officer’s wife and mother.
Geoffrey Cameron (40) of Logan Way, Muir of Ord admitted resisting arrest in a police van outside the Co-op store in the village on July 26 last year, struggling violently with police officers and making the threats to one officer on the journey to Burnett Road Police Station.
The charges also stated Cameron threatened to kill the officer and his children.
Sheriff Andrew Miller noted Cameron had previously been on a drug treatment testing order.
"I don’t see any purpose in a further order," he said.
Solicitor Willie Young described Cameron as an ‘intelligent and articulate individual’ who was under the influence of substances at the time of the offences.
He said Cameron was in custody for other matters which were to be dealt with at Inverness Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Miller jailed him for 18 weeks.
