Ross youth admits sex charges
AN EASTER Ross youth has admitted having unlawful sex with two 14-year-old schoolgirls.
David Dunbar (19) of Smith Place, Fearn, was three years older than the girls when he committed the offences in 2010 and 2011, Tain Sheriff Court heard.
Dunbar admitted having unlawful sex with one of the girls between July 1 and August 7, 2010 in woods at Westford and sexually assaulting and having unlawful intercourse with another 14 year-old at Crawl Park beside Alness Academy on November 24 last year.
Depute fiscal Roderick Urquhart told Sheriff David Sutherland the girl in the earlier offence had featured in other cases of a similar nature heard at the High Court and before a sheriff and jury.
He said she had family problems and was drinking vodka. She was looking for attention but had gone about it in the wrong way.
"She said she met him and they had gone to woods where they had sex,"
said Mr Urquhart adding that the girl had said Dunbar knew her age.
The second offence, the fiscal said, involved another young girl who was in the company of another boy of the same age when they met up with Dunbar in Alness High Street.
He said: "There was some sexual banter and when they reached the end of the High Street she told him (the younger boy) they were going to Crawl Park."
Mr Urquhart said some three hours later the younger boy returned with older friends and initially couldn’t find the girl.
"They went looking for her and found the girl," said the fiscal. "She said what is stated in the indictment.
"The other youths told her to report it to the police," he said. "She didn’t do it. The four young men, aged between 16 and 19, went to Alness Police Station because they were aware she was only 14."
Dunbar was detained and interviewed.
Shahid Latif, advocate for Dunbar, pointed out the girl involved in the first complaint had been in a relationship with Dunbar for three days.
"And it was a planned act," he said.
Sheriff David Sutherland heard Dunbar had a schedule of previous convictions and he deferred sentence for criminal justice social work reports until February 11.
