Inverurie Loco Works have stepped in to help a local grassroots club after a theft earlier in the year.

Kintore United F C were victims of a substantial theft in July which resulted in quad bikes and mowers being stolen.

The theft took place only weeks before over 200 youngsters were due to return to the pitches based in the Midmill area of the town.

Approximately £6000 of machinery equipment that is used to maintain the grass pitches on a regular basis was taken.

After being contacted by Kintore United F C volunteers, Inverurie Loco Works. have stepped in to help the club recoup some of the damage and continue their fundraising efforts.

Kintore United Football Club said: "We are a small community club providing football activities to over 200 local children.

"The running of this club is all from parents and community volunteers and in the main we are funded through player subscriptions and fundraising.

"On Saturday, July 23, we discovered that our Quad bike and two ride on mowers - all with a total value of approximately £6000 had been stolen.

"The club cannot afford to replace these without the help of the local community and this equipment is essential to keep a football pitch.”

As Locos host Huntly in the Breedon Highland League on Saturday, October 15 (3pm Kick Off), Kintore United F C volunteers/players will be present at the supporters’ turnstiles with cash donation buckets in a bid to raise much needed funds to continue to offer affordable football to children from the ages of six-16 years old.

Last Night, Locos Captain Greg Mitchell and frontman Jay Halliday paid a visit to the KUFC 2013 squad at the Midmill grass pitches to offer free tickets to the Huntly match and the opportunity to take part in small-sided games at half-time.

Locos Captain Greg Mitchell said: “We were shocked to hear that Kintore United had been on the receiving end of a crazy theft and that it may possibly stop 200+ players enjoying the game!

"As a club, we were only too happy to help as so many of our current squad started out at grassroots football and we understand the dedication and, effort that is put in by the coaches/volunteers to help young players play the game.

"We hope Kintore can raise as much money on the day and we look forward to welcoming the Kintore 2013 players to the match.”

"We look forward to welcoming both Locos and Huntly supporters to the match on Saturday and we kindly ask fans to provide a small donation at the supporters’ turnstiles prior to entering the stadium."
