Aberdeenshire Council's Roads department has confirmed repair work at the A947/A98 Banff Bridge has been completed.

The work focused on fixing a damaged gully in the area.

The disruption lead to long traffic delays in Banff and Macduff this week.

Traffic lights were in operation, however some drivers ignored the red lights which affected the light sequencing, which meant longer waiting times.

The problem was exacerbated by separate roadworks that were being carried out on Banff's Bridge Road.

An Aberdeenshire Council Roads spokesman said: "We have now completed our works and the road is open to all traffic."
