10 fun weekend events in Aberdeenshire
There's a whole host of fun community events taking place this weekend across the north-east -
Rothienorman - Rothienorman Bowling Club are hosting a coffee morning on Saturday, April 29 from 9.30am -11.30am in the Greenview Centre, this is followed at noon by a try out session of bowling from 12pm - 3pm and is open to all ages.
Chapel of Garioch - Jumble sale from 10am -2pm on Saturday, April 29 at the Chapel of Garioch Hall. Entry £2 and items can be dropped off on Friday between 6pm-8pm.
Insch - Insch family bingo night takes place on Saturday, April 29 at 6.30pm in Insch Church Hall. Tickets are adults £5, children £2.50 with proceeds to Insch School.
Turriff - The Doric Day returns on Saturday from 10am -3pm at the Heritage Centre. The event sees the Primary School pupils doric words competition and performances from guests Doug Hay, Moira Stewart and Gordon Hay.
Rhynie - Noth Parish Church coffee morning takes place at Fourteen The Square on Saturday, April 29 from 10am - noon, in aid of church funds.
A plant and seed giveaway from Rhynie seed library will also be at the event.
Fetternear - Fetternear Easter Fayre takes place at the Fetternear Hall on Saturday, April 29 from 10am with stall from local producers.
Rothienorman - UCAN charity tractor road run, starting from Rothienorman Hall at 12.45pm - 3pm approx. £10 entry on the day and all roadworthy vintage and classics welcomed with refreshments on return.
New Deer/Forglen Hall - Foolishly John Lambton throws the strange googly-eyed fish back into the river. What has he done! The Fish grew and grew and grew until… Well, why not find out by coming to watch Paul Batten of Theatrix Arts perform this magical story based on the legend of the Lambton Worm through puppets, changing scenery, music, and sound effects? Then meet the puppets and create your very own Dragon Puppet.

Tarland - Saturday, April 29 at 7.30pm - The Jennifer Ewan Band perform a stirring mix of heartfelt original songs, Louisiana accordion blues and old-time Cajun dance music with a Celtic tint. The band comprises Jennifer Ewan on vocals/guitar, the flute and accordion of Kim Tebble (Deaf Heights Cajun Aces), the jazz-rooted rhythms of percussionist Paul Dennington and the inventive bass lines of Jamie Hogg. Jennifer blends earthy, modern Scottish songs with foot-tapping Cajun melodies and Louisiana grooves in their foot-stomping show ‘Bonnie Bayou’.

Thainstone - The Thainstone Sunday Market and Car Boot sale will return to weekly from Sunday April 30 - Sunday October 29. Get that spring clean done and sell all of your unwanted items or come along and pick up the best bargains. Spaces are £12 and need to be pre-booked through Eventbrite.
