10 fun events to keep you busy this weekend in Aberdeenshire





There's lots to see and do this weekend in Aberdeenshire - from open days and vintage working weekend, to plant sales and coffee mornings.

Lyne of Skene - The BA Vintage Country Fair (formerly Vintage Working Weekend) is back after a three years hiatus due to covid restrictions. This unique event on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday 21 brings together vintage tractors and cars, stationary engines, steam engines, miniature steam, models, with Truckfest on Sunday and much more. Lots of entertainment in the main arena, including The Drakes of Hazard dog and duck show on Saturday and the Riders of the Storm equestrian stunt show on Sunday. Children's play areas, trade and craft stands, food, tractor and train rides all add to a great family day out at the BA Vintage Country Fair, Lyne of Skene. Doors open at 9.30am on both days.

Inverurie - The Bailies of Bennachie celebrate 50 years as a local charity this May and in recognition of this anniversary, they are holding an open day in Inverurie Town Hall on Saturday from noon to 4pm. Aside from recognising the work the trustees and members have done over the past five decades, they have music from Ian Thow and the Garioch Fiddlers as well as showcasing music specially composed for the event.

New Pitsligo - Visual Arts Exhibiton takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 5pm at the Public Hall an St John Episcopal Church. Over 250 items are on show in the main hall and there are children's entries from New Pitsligo, Strichen, New Deer, Maud, Pitfour, Longside, Lochpots, Fraserburgh North, Fraserburgh South Park, Tyrie, Inveralloch and Kininmonth schools. Tea, coffee and a fancy piece will be available throughout the weekend.

Fyvie - Fyvie Plant sale and Coffee Morning takes place at the Legion 10am - noon. Entry to sale free (cash sales only) coffee morning £1 child and £3 adult.

Turriff - ACE Winches open day takes place on Saturday from 10am - 4pm at Cheyne House, ACE Works, near Turrif (off A947) - tours, displays, apprentice programme, children's activites and raffles.

Banff - Banff Wellness Event on Saturday from 11am-2pm . This is an opportunity for all age groups to participate in a range of fun and enjoyable activities at The Vinery and Banff Castle.

Monymusk - Monymusk Senior Citizens committee is holding a fundraising coffee morning on Saturda from 10am to noon in the village hall. The money raised will help offset some of the costs of the summer outing planned for July 1 Any donations of home bakes or help on the day would be much appreciated.

Aberchirder - The wonderful Local Hero Festival 'Ben' also know as Anthony Finney is playing a live set from 12pm to 12.30pm as part of the market where 45 stands are attending. Free entry and starts at 10am at the same time a Car Boot Sale is being held at McRobert Park from 9am -1pm.

Turriff - Spring Fayre and coffee morning at St Congans, 10am -12pm , sales tables

Aden Country Park - Mintlaw - Family friendly day of free activities which support positive mental wellbeing.

Try your hand at mandala stone painting, join a silent disco or do some yoga in the Arboretum. They have a scavenger hunt, BioBlitz and fun, active games for children. Mintlaw Men's Shed official opening will be taking place and AuRora Choir will be singing in the Theatre plus lots more. Open to all, no booking required 11am - 3pm.
