This year’s switch on of the Turriff Christmas lights was a success as hundreds turned out for the annual event.

With Christmas carols, and festive fun, this year's lights switch on honours were a joint effort thanks to local school pupils.

Organisers set local schools the challenge of coming up with a Christmas song, with the winners given the honour of turning on the lights.

Turriff Primary and Auchterless were the winners and pupils Skara Grant, Caitlin Harrison and Jamie Simpson from Turriff P6 turned on the tree having been chosen by their classmates.

For Auchterless, the honours were to turn on the lights at the Turra Coo, which this year is adorned with its own display.

Welcoming Santa and a procession with Turriff and Aberdeenshire School's Pipe Band members, visitors themselves were entertained with displays of Highland dancing, singing and street dance.

The High Street and Main Street were taken over with a host of stalls, including the Ladies Circle, Invercamy Dairy, Men's Shed, Light up Turriff, Friends of the Den and many more.

Festive fun was also to be had with rides on the Tam O'Shunter train and kids rides.
