Turriff Christmas Lights Group invited Citizen Of The Year Mabel Webster to perform her first official duty at the weekend.

She was joined by committee members and the Turra Coo to draw the winner of the highly anticipated lucky squares competition as well as their prize draw which the group have been selling tickets for throughout the year.

The lucky number - for a pair of tickets to Hogmanay In The Haughs - was picked first, and was number 86 which was bought by Susan Forbes.

The raffle winners - who will receive cash prizes - were then drawn as third prize Dianne Simpson; second prize Sandy McCaskill and first prize Herbert Cox.

In a generous move both Sandy and Herbert requested that part of their winnings be donated into the Christmas lights fund.

All of the money raised through both the lucky squares and the raffle will go towards supporting the town's Christmas lights, which includes erection, dismantlement, maintenance and the purchasing of new lights.
