United added to the misery of a Cruden Bay side which had conceded 29 goals in three Grill Cup group matches, posting a 7-2 success.

The Moray side took the lead through Harvey Kane but found themselves trailing at the break when their Buchan opponents hit two quick goals.

After the break, Lossie hit scoring form with Alex Matczak and two quick Callum Carr strikes putting them in command.

James Johnston, Kane with his second and Liam Petrie completed the scoring for the home team.

Burghead Thistle were made to work hard for their opening day win by a Whitehills side who had also conceded heavily in the cup.

The Banffshire outfit's return to the junior ranks saw them ship 27 goals in three games in the cup, but with some new recruits on board they put up some stern resistance at Forest Park.

Ryan MacBean headed in Burghead's first on the half hour from a corner by Kelvin Mackenzie, who nabbed the second himself three minutes later from a free kick.

An opening day league win made it back-to-back successes for Forres Thistle, claiming a 3-0 success at Hall Russell United.

The Granite City men created the game’s first chances without success, while Forres began to threaten with an Alex Innes header just wide.

The visitors took the lead on 34 minutes when Cammy Grant’s free kick was headed down by Matty Milne for Calum Gemmell, whose shot was going in until Neil Moir slid in to make sure from close range.

Ten minutes after the break, Thistle capitalised on a poor passback and Moir knocked in his second of the game.

Hall Russell had to replace their goalkeeper through injury midway through the second half, and the replacement was beaten one more time by Milne’s late header from another Grant free kick to seal a 3-0 victory for the visitors.

Deveronside defeated New Elgin 3-1 at Macduff.

Kieran Anderson opened the scoring and Jody Munro made it 2-0 at the break.

Sub Craig Sim pulled one back late on for New Elgin before Munro's second sealed 'Side's victory.

Dufftown went down 2-1 at home to Banchory St Ternan in the battle of the two teams relegated from the Premier last term.

Euan Simpson's sixth goal of the season had levelled for the Toonsers in the first half.

Islavale, fresh from three Grill Cup wins and qualification for the quarter-finals, went down 4-0 at Banks O' Dee Juniors.

Rothie Rovers started their first Premier League season with a defeat, Murray Thompson scoring in their 3-1 loss at Dyce.
