Striker Jody Munro and goalkeeper Gavin Still have agreed one year extensions, with manager Steve Dolan thrilled to keep two young local players.

Munro (22), from Portsoy, has already been at Vale for the past three seasons and featured in Dolan’s starting line-up on numerous occasions last season.

“Jody is a player with obvious talent and displays an excellent attitude,” said Dolan.

“We’re keen to see Jody step up his game in the coming season and use the experience he has gained to earn a regular starting place.”

Still will continue to compete with James Blanchard for the number one jersey at Vale.

The keeper, also 22, will pen a one-year extension having returned to Vale in February from a loan spell at junior neighbours Deveronside.

“He didn’t get too many opportunities with the season coming to an early end due to the Covid-19 pandemic but we were impressed with his attitude and ability in training,” said Dolan.

“I’m very pleased that he has extended his contract and also to give another local player the opportunity to compete for a starting place with the Vale.”

Meanwhile Dolan joins a group of past and present Highland League players doing a 24-hour run in aid of My Name’5 Doddie Foundation this weekend.

The charity supports people with motor neuron disease and former Keith and Deveronvale striker Keith Robertson organised the event in support of former Cove Rangers and Elgin City striker Martin Johnston, who was diagnosed with the condition last year.

Runners are taking part from noon on Saturday. For more details visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/keith-robertson6.
