Turriff, Garioch and Elgin bowling team-mates lose out in British Isles title challenge

England's bowlers have taken the British Isles title by defeating Scotland 120-93 writes Mike Barron.

The score in rinks was 3-3 but Iain McLean (Blantyre), Mike Stepney (Elgin) and Connor Milne (Turriff) rinks took heavy defeats.

Scotland had beaten Wales and Ireland, as had England and it was left to a decider between the two for the title.

The match went 41-52 to England at 10th end, then 72-82 at 15th.

The final score ended Scotland 93 England 120.

Rink scores-

Iain McLean (Blantyre)(Scotland) 8 Chestney 20 (England).

Paul Foster (Ardrossan) 20 Harlow 17.

Mike Stepney (Elgin)10 Tolchard 26.

Colin Walker (Midlothian)17 Brett 14.

Connor Milne (Turriff) 18 Walker 29.

Neil Speirs (West Lothian) 20 Paxton 14.

Mike Stepney (Elgin), had Jason Banks (Garioch) as 3rd but had a very poor start.

They only scored 2 singles in 9 ends, came back in the middle, but were out bowled from 17th losing 1,2,1,3 and 4 shots to lose 10-26.

Connor Milne (Turriff) will have wished he was not a skip in Chelmsford.

They had a disastrous 13 ends scoring only at 2 ends. That was 1 and 2 shots. From 13th they came alive, and scored 3,4,0,0,0,3,2, and 3 to finish 18-29.
