Trout feeding helps boost catches at Lochter

Down Lochter way there was a saying banded about that “any work you do in the Spring is done with joyful enthusiasm”.

Certainly for a good portion of patrons last week their angling labours were finely rewarded with some excellent sport.

Even though the colder weather prevailed the trout were feeding freely and rods were bending aplenty.

Well known angling enthusiast from Elgin, Steve Urwin, on his first trip of the year to Lochter couldn’t go wrong with his team of buzzer set up or his hothead damsel as he got 27 fish to the net for his day session.

Jim Brown had a couple of sessions when he had 26 and 13 fish respectively on a mixture of apps bloodworm, diawl bachs and small lures.

Johnny Thackery fished with a hothead damsel or a team of diawl bachs and this certainly got him into the fish as he landed 20 for his session.

Fifteen seemed to be a lucky number for many with Bill Bain using cat’s whiskers and damsels, Kevin Goodall used a Montana and buzzer, Graham Duthie was on crunches and diawl bachs and Derek Christie used okay dokays and apps bloodworm.

Other returns were Graham Taylor with 11 fish on eggstacy, Albert Trail with 11 on either buzzers or fabs, Sean Simpson with nine on cormorants and buzzers and Peter Wilson with seven on lures.

With Easter approaching the hope is that the weather does heat up a bit and the fish stay on the feed.
