It was Moray derby night in the north junior football scene on Tuesday.

Home side New Elgin got off to a flyer, Robert Forsyth and Jack Blackwell putting them 2-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Fresh from scoring seven against Cruden Bay on Saturday, Lossie hit back quickly and within 15 minutes they had turned the contest around. Strikes by Adam Cuffley, Callum Carr and James Johnston gave United a 3-2 lead and that's how it stayed until the half time whistle.

When Ross Fiske netted a fourth for the visitors early in the second half, the match seemed to be slipping away from New Elgin.

But home battling qualities came to the fore as Ross Porter and Bohdi Tewnion both netted to make it 4-4.

There was still time for Johnston to score his second for Lossie United to regain the lead, only for Tewnion to also grab another and ensure that the spoils were shared in an amazing match.

After four straight victories in league and cup, Burghead Thistle met their match in hosts Islavale.

Following a goalless first half, the Keith side stepped up a gear and took the lead when Brodie Christie's cross ended up in the net.

Christie soon added his ninth goal of the season before Ricky Henderson's long range effort sailed over the keeper's head to seal Vale's victory.

The points were shared at Logie Park where Forres Thistle and Dufftown drew 1-1.

Neil Owen struck first for Jags after dispossessing the keeper early on and top scorer Neil Moir hit a post with an effort to try and make it 2-0.

Scott Bowie burst through to equalise for Dufftown in the closing ten minutes.

it was also derby day in Banffshire, with Deveronside making the short trip to Whitehills.

It's been a tough return to the league for 'Hills so far and they found the visitors too strong at School Park.

Goals by Ryan Matheson, Jody Munro, Kevin Thomson and Ethan Blanchard eased 'Side to a 4-0 win and maximum points in the Championship after two games.

In the Premier League, Rothie Rovers pulled off a superb 3-2 win at home to Hermes.

Jamie McKinnon was Rovers' unlikely hat-trick hero, including two goals in the closing ten minutes - the winner was right at the death.
