MAUD manager Kevin Park says his team shot themselves in the foot after going down 2-1 to East End.

Jamie Masson grabbed a debut goal after nine minutes having signed from Buchanhaven Hearts the day before.

But the Aberdeen side came from behind to take victory in a game which Park described as a “six-pointer.”

Maud are now seven points adrift of East End at the foot of the table with the scrape for results now beyond desperation.

Park said: “The first half was probably the best football we’ve played since I joined in September.

“We could have been two or three goals in front but a combination of not taking our chances and a silly mistake meant it was only 1-1.

“In the second half we stopped what we had been doing and we can only blame ourselves for not capitalising and winning the game.

“Nonetheless there were lots of positives and a big improvement from the previous week.

“Jamie Masson got a debut goal and Craig Ritchie was excellent in midfield, looked hungry and composed on the ball.

“All we can do is continue to work hard in training and not feel sorry for ourselves with another big game against Colony Park this weekend.”

Masson got his goal following a scramble in the box, but the visitors drew level on the half-hour when Mark Stainton lost out in a 50-50 with the ball falling to Coyle and then Wood who supplied the finish after Michael Ritchie’s save.

The hosts had a header cleared off the line late in the first half, with East End going in front in similar circumstances to how they claimed their equaliser.

Bavidge’s shot was well kept out by Ritchie but Coyle followed up in the 55th minute.

Zak Conway went close after a great through ball by Lewis Sime, however Maud couldnt snatch a result as they finished the game with nine men after Davidson and Conway were ordered off late on.
