A first half goal by Ewan 'Kaka' Clark was enough to give United victory over neighbouring hosts Deveronvale in a scrappy encounter.

Vale, without key midfielder Horace Ormsby, were under the cost when Turriff's Andy Watt struck the crossbar early on.

What proved to be the only goal of the contest arrived after quarter of an hour when John Allan played a superb pass through for Clark to round Vale keeper Sean McIntosh and stroke the ball home.

Turriff keeper David Dey saved from Vale's Scott Thomson on two occasions, while Clark had a second goal disallowed for an offside decision after the break.

Deveronvale saw centre half Innes McKay limp off to be replaced by Jamie MacLellan as they chased an equaliser.

A late Thomson header went winde as Deveronvale had to concede their first defeat of the season, following a win over Keith and draws with Wick and Clach.

Turriff returned to winning ways, having thumped Inverurie on day one before going down to Buckie and Keith in their next two.
