Thunderton have picked up their first victory since returning to the Moray welfare league.
The Elgin side bounced back from league defeats to Hopeman and RAF Lossiemouth by advancing in the Tewnion Memorial Trophy at Lhanbryde United's expense on Tuesday.
Both teams created chances early one but it remained goalless until an error in the Lhanbryde defence let in Lorne McPherson, who coolly slotted past the keeper.
It remained close for much of the tie with opportunities at both ends, before a save by Lhanbryde keeper Jamie Strathdee saw the ball fall to Mark Marshall to double Thunderton's lead on 70 minutes.
The home side hit the crossbar through a long-range Neil Owen free kick, while at the other end a looping Thunderton effort came back off the United woodwork.
The visitors held on for a 2-0 victory and now play host to Hopeman in the quarter-finals on June 23.
Aberlour Villa suffered last-gasp agony for the second cup tie running as they crashed out of the competition at home to Cullen.
A week earlier, the Speyside outfit tumbled out of the Simpson Memorial Cup when Fochabers netted a stoppage time winner in a 4-3 success.
There was a feeling of deja-vu when Cullen did the same at Villa Park on Tuesday.
Aberlour enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half and created a few chances but it was Cullen who broke the deadlock when skipper Iain Mair found the top left corner of the net on 16 minutes.
It got worse for the home side when Blair Watt was shown a second yellow card on the stroke of half time and was dismissed, leaving Aberlour a man short for the entire second half.
Cullen made the extra man count as Villa keeper Paul Robertson pulled off two great saves at the start of the second period.
However, Aberlour refused to let their numerical disadvantage affect their play and took the match to Cullen, with reward coming in the shape of a penalty award, which Gary Morrison converted for his second goal of the season to level the scores on 70 minutes.
Just as it did at Fochabers seven days before, a penalty shootout was looming large for Aberlour as the match entered time added on when history repeated itself. Cullen's Mair pounced for his second goal of the match right at the death, earning his team a home tie against Portsoy in the last eight.
In the only league match of the night, RAF Lossiemouth maintained their 100 per cent start to join Hopeman on four wins out of four at the top.
However, visitors Portsoy made the airmen work hard for their three points in a 2-1 victory.
Lossie were in control of the first half after a bright start but failed to trouble the Portsoy keeper too much.
Their opening goal was scored by Jack McCormick, who netted a hat-trick as a substitute in their last match and continued his good run by latching on to a loose pass and firing home.
Fortune favoured the RAF side when Callum Devine fired in a shot and a Portsoy defender got in the way and ended up knocking it into his own net.
Lossie were expected to go on and embellish their performance with more goals in the second half, but Portsoy had other ideas.
The hard-working visitors made a real game of it, pulling back a goal when Vinnie Ingleby found the top corner and leaving the service side relieved to pick up the three points in the end.
