More Keith performances like Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Nairn County will have Keith back to winning ways soon, says manager Craig Ewen.

The Maroons twice led at Station Park and although they couldn’t grab a first victory since November, they ended a run of six straight losses to deservedly grab a point.

Match report: Nairn 2 Keith 2.

Attention now turns to Wednesday’s home game against a Wick Academy side also sitting in the bottom three and in dire need of some points.

Keith have six games left to try and end their barren run and Ewen said: “If we put in performances like we did on Saturday for every week over the rest of the season then I’d like to think we will pick up some results.

“It’s going to be a busy period where we are going to be Wednesday-Saturday all the way.

“It’s a big game against Wick. Both teams haven’t been in the best form so it’s an opportunity for one team to get three points and give themselves a boost and obviously we are hoping it will be us.”

Keith will still be without recent signing Gavin Elphinstone, who had to have his appendix taken out last week. Ryan Robertson, Kieran Mooney, Tom Andrews and Ethan Smith remain on the sidelines.

Ewen felt the draw at Nairn was a fair outcome.

“It was a very competitive game. We had a decent first half and could have been 2-0 up.

“In the second half Nairn had a lot of possession and were definitely pushing. A draw was about right, I’m not sure either team deserved to win it.

“It’s a decent point for us away from home. Nairn are a good side so we have a number of positives to take out of it.

“We haven’t had a lot of luck with certain things but you have to get on with it.

“We will take one game at a time and hopefully don’t get more injury problems.”
