DEVERONVALE manager Craig Stewart believes he has a conveyor belt of young talent coming through the ranks at the club.

Vale’s under-18s are top of their league and two of their young guns, Jay Goldie and Jaydan Bradford started for the first team in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Forres Mechanics.

“We had both of them starting in the back line and I was really pleased for them both,” said Stewart. “They did exceptionally well and can be proud of their performances.

“We’ve got players missing but both these lads are in the first team on merit.

“There’s another couple of the young lads on the fringes of the first team.

“It’s an exciting time for that group of players and the majority of them have got a chance of playing Highland League football.

“It’s just how you manage it, you don’t want to push them too much but they are eager to play.

“They will make mistakes, that is part of the learning and we just need to highlight these and work at it.

“The future is bright but we need to watch how many we promote at one time.”

Stewart was pleased with the performance of a young Vale team minus the suspended Aaron Hamilton and Robert Scott.

“I was disappointed with the results but I certainly wasn’t disappointed with the performance. The lads gave their all and I think we’ve just edged it to be fair.”

The manager missed Vale’s 6-0 thumping at home to Turriff in their last game and said he got the reaction he was looking for, and that derby defeat is now forgotten.

“We needed a bit of come back from the players and we certainly got that. Enough was said in training sessions after the Turriff game and there’s no point in going over it – it is in the past now.”
