Jags were expected to be comfortable winners against a side they thrashed 6-0 in the league at Grant Park this season and defeated 5-0 home and away last term.

But the latest cup clash was very different, with Buckie a touch relieved to make it through with a 2-1 victory and book a home clash with Open Goal Broomhill in the second round on October 22.

A typically fast start from Graeme Stewart’s side appeared to have set up another easy win over their Highland League rivals as they raced into a two-goal lead with little over 15 minutes on the clock.

Buckie continued to dominate without adding to their account, and perhaps started to believe they would cruise into the next round - but Lossie had other ideas.

With the visitors claiming for a foul, Lossie progressed down the left early in the second half and Jags keeper Bal Demus didn’t deal with the cross ball allowing Ross Archibald to nod one back for the home side.

There was late concern for the visitors when a Lossie attack led to Scott Thomson crashing an effort off the underside of the bar.

The loose ball eventually fell to Baylee Campbell who fired over the target, letting the relieved Jags off the hook.
