KEITH manager Craig Ewen praised his side for an “outstanding” second half performance as the Maroons came from a goal down to beat Forres Mechanics 2-1 at Mosset Park on Saturday.
Ben Barron gave the hosts the lead before the half hour mark, and Ewen admitted Mechanics could have been out of sight by half-time.
But striker Przemyslaw Nawrocki came off the bench to score a quickfire double at the start of the second period and give the Maroons all three points.
“The first half an hour Forres totally dominated the game and could have been four or five goals up,” Ewen said. “We couldn’t keep possession and couldn’t get out. We were really living on the edge and it was backs against the walls.
“In the second half we were really dangerous on the break. We got our two goals, but we could have had three or four because we had another couple opportunities.
“We had a few harsh words at half-time. When I spoke about the first half an hour I was close to speechless because I didn’t think we could play that badly. Near enough everything you can think of we were second best at.
“But we galvanised them at half-time and second half they were outstanding – so I’m delighted.
“We are absolutely buzzing with getting three points at a tough venue because we have had a tough start and Forres are flying in the league.
“There are boys here that do want to play for Keith, be successful for Keith and try make Keith successful.
“It was a good one for the supporters that were here because we’d been well written off before the game. It’s a great three points.”
Keith host Formartine United on Saturday, who are coming off the back of a 2-1 win over previously-undefeated Brora Rangers.
“It’s another tough one for us and they’ll be very buoyant – but we’ll go again,” Ewen added.
