North juniors: Lossiemouth United and New Elgin look to fight away from bottom spot in Moray derby and Dufftown look for first win

Lossiemouth United and New Elgin will battle it out tonight for their first Championship win of the north junior football season.

United made a strong start to the Grill Cup in their first campaign in seven years, reaching the quarter-finals, but they have yet to get off the mark in the league.

They opened with a goalless draw against Deveronside before losing to Longside and went down 3-0 at league leaders Sunnybank on Saturday.

New Elgin also qualified from their Grill Cup group against the odds but also have just one point to show for their efforts after four Championship matches.

The Free Staters went down 3-0 at Deveronside on Saturday with Ryan Matheson, Keane Davidson and Jordan Russell on target for the Banff men.

'Side are back in action tonight with Aberdeen University making the trip to Canal Park.

Burghead Thistle picked up their first league win on Saturday, defeating Banks O' Dee 3-2 at Forest Park.

Two Kelvin Mackenzie goals, one from the penalty spot, and a Finlay Nicol goal took Thistle to victory.

Islavale are one of the form teams in the Championship with three straight victories, their latest a 3-1 success over Aberdeen Uni at the weekend.

The varsity side took the lead shortly after the break but Vale struck three times in five minutes in the closing 20 minutes through Stuart Thomson (pen), Owen Christie and Saul Phimister to turn the match around.

Dufftown are still looking for their first point in the Premier League following their 6-0 defeat at Bridge of Don Thistle on Saturday.

The Toonsers will look to get off the mark tonight when they visit Nairn St Ninian, who have also lost their opening three league contests.

Rothie Rovers continued their solid start in the Championship with a 2-0 win at Forres Thistle, Andi Bremner and Sam McAlley on target.

The Rothienorman side take on unbeaten leaders Sunnybank tonight in Aberdeen.
