With their Simpson Park surface waterlogged, Vale had to move their home quarter-final against Banchory St Ternan to the plastic pitch at the Meadows in Huntly.

It was new terrain for the Keith side but they battled through it and won the tie 2-1, maintaining their stunning run of results this season.

Despite trailing at the break, Vale fought back to earn a trip to Banks O’ Dee Juniors in the last four.

Banchory started well with Vale gradually finding their way into the match and missing some chances.

They went behind, even with keeper Ryan Brindle saving a penalty the visitors scored the rebound to lead at the break.

Five minutes after half time, Noel Scott levelled from Robert Scott’s cross.

Vale pushed for a winner but it looked like the tie could be heading for penalties when they came up with an 85th minute winner, Matty Nicol’s wind-assisted free kick going straight in.

Since September 16, Islavale have lost just one game in all competitions against Premier League side Buchanhaven Hearts.
