New season gets under way at Grampian Kart Club's Boyndie Drome

The new season at Grampian Kart Club has moved out of the start grid.
Banff's Boyndie Drome played host to the first round of the Open Challenge over a weekend of action.
Saturday began dry but rain was added to the mix. Prokarts were run on the first day and all the other classes on Sunday.
The feature trophy was the Dickie Bent Cup, voted by the marshals.
Cornhill's Jonathan Edwards was again a winner on the senior max 162kg category
Mintlaw rival Gary Robertson led away from the lights from Kevin Kensett (Peterhead) and Edwards, who then squeezed to the inside at MTM bend.
Later in the lap he took the lead over Robertson and the order remained unchanged with Edwards taking the victory over Robertson and Kensett.
Banff's Ryan Simpson was poleman in the KZ gearbox and got away from the standing start when the lights went out.
Fraserburgh's Jack Simpson took up the chase and kept up the leader honest throughout the final, but it was the Banff driver who won by less than a second. Elgin's Craig Stephen came home third.
There was joy for another Elgin driver in the Prokart Light (Group 1) as Daniel McRae took a comfortable victory on his first outing of the season.
Pitmedden's Josh Orr triumphed in the Prokart Heavy (Group 2) from lights to flag.
Aberdeen's Oleg Kazakoua was the victor in the Prokarts (Heavy) (Group 1) ahead of Ellon's Michael Rose in second.
Inverallochy's Luca Bicocchi was awarded the show trophy after his victory in the Honda cadets.
The most exciting race of the day came in the junior max, won by Alex Hawcutt (Portlethen).
The second round of the GKC championships will be on April 14.
