NESFA round-up as north-east teams continue in league and cup action

On Tuesday, May 24 in the Ship Inn League Cup Q/Finals Invercairn United faced Buchanhaven for a place in the Semi Final and the away side have pulled off the score line of the season as they went to win by 9 goals to 2. Buchanhaven goals came from James Timmins, Lewis Brown and Andrew Gardiner all scoring twice and one a piece from Mark Munro, Craig Murphy and Ethan Durno and for the home side was AJ Gray and Marc Walker.

Banff Rovers faced Elizabethan Link Up in their Quarter Final match and the home side had a comfortable win in the end winning by 6 goals to 1. Banff scorers were Nathan Ross netting four times and one each from Kieran Neish and Rob McIntosh and for Link Up was Marc Rollo.

Mintlaw faced inform Haven in their cup tie and a close game was expected and it ended in a draw when both sides scored twice. Mark McQueen and Leon Park for the home side and for the away side was Ben Danton with both goals. Into a penalty shoot-out where Haven prevailed 2-0

Last Quarter Final was between Bellslea and Methlick and with an improved performance the home side march into the Semi Final scoring four times without reply. The winning goals came from new signing Russell McBride with 2 and Alan Hale and Liam Rollo with the others.

NewLine Building Supplies League 2 -

Longside Thistle had Boddam United and with spirits high in the Longside camp with recent results they continued to get better winning by scoring 10 goals without reply. Thistle scorers were Jamie Elrick a hatrick, brace from Kieran Scott and one each from Bruce Urquhart, JJ Ironside, Calum Selman, Joe Selman and James Grieg.

New boys FC Grampian stay top of the league with another three points after they went on to win by 4 goals to 1 win against New Pitsligo. Grampian scorers were Grant West, Gregor O Neil, Morgan Reid and Lewis Ingram and replying for Pitsligo was Jack Donaldson.

Cuminestown faced Peterhead United in a league match and there were goals galore with the match ended in a draw with both sides netting 5 times, The home scorers were Duncan Will scoring four with Lachlan Stewart with the fifth and replying for United were Harry Copeman, Daryl Webster, Ryan Webster, Greg Hastie and Alexsel Loshkarew.

Ardallie faced New Deer in another league 2 match and New Deer led by three at half time but the away side hit the goal trail in the second half and added a further 10 goals. Scorers were Jamie Shewan and Mark Andrews both netting hat-tricks, braces from Grant Anderson and Ryan Fenby and one each from Martyn Hazzard, Lee McRory and Filip Malecki.

Another high scoring match came when St Combs entertained form side MacDuff. In a high scoring the away side went on to win by 6 goals to 3. The winning goals came from Aidan McDougal with a brace and one a piece from Declan Mathieson, Ryan Christie, Bruce Taylor and Dan Taylor and replying for St Combs were young Kaiden Mutch with a double and an Own goal.

Friday Deejays Nightclub League-

Top of the table Haven faced Invercairn United for a third time this season. After losing the last two, one a cup match Invercairn knew if so, early in the season they needed a win and for the first 45 minutes Invercairn over ran the home side netting 5 times without reply. Pick of the bunch being a lob from 30 yards by Fraser Watt, the others were scored by AJ Gray, James Gibb, Gary Summers and Daniel Reid. The home side did get two goals back in the second half but the damage was on in the first. Invercairn defender Gary Summers led the way and once more was excellent. Haven scorers were Ben Danton and AJ Buchan.

Banff Rovers faced Fraserburgh side Bellslea for the second time this season and the home side proved too hot to handle and again the home side kept a clean sheet and scoring 3 times. The inform Nathan Ross bagged another double and oner from Rob McIntosh.

Buchanhaven had Methlick as opponents and after a superb win over Invercairn in a cup match, the home side looked to carry this into their league form. The match ended with the home side wining by the odd goal in three. Both Buchanhaven goals were scored by Barry Sheppard and for the visitors was Callum Cheyne.

NewLine Building supplies league 2-

Boddam United entertained Cuminestown and both have struggled for form this year, but it was the visitors who came away with all 3 points as they went onto to score 5times without conceding. Scorers were Ryan Acott who netted a hatrick and one each from Corbyn Wilson and an own goal.

MacDuff had Ardallie as visitors and the home side have been scoring goals for fun lately and it was the same again tonight and they ran out winners by 9 goals to 1. McDuff scorers were Dan Taylor with a hatrick, a brace from Lewis Strachan and one a piece from Jacob Birchenhall, Declan Mathieson, Declan McKay and Kyle Barclay and for Ardallie was Danny Smith.

NewDeer were facing Longside Thistle in another league 2 match and it was a comfortable win for New Deer as they ran out winners by 6 goals to 1. The winning goals were scored my Martin Crisp with a double and one a piece from Ryan Fenby, David McDonald, Pete McDougal and Nathan Gatt.
