Tuesday , August 24 Deejays Nightclub League 1 - Mormond Thistle faced Invercairn United and the home side knew that a win or a draw would keep them in the title race but on the night Invercairn United were far the superior team but the home side had a glorious chance to go in front wasted early on. The home side didn’t help themselves after a poor pass back by Smith let in Marc Watt to fire home. Another mistake by the Mormond defence let in Watt again to double the Invercairn lead. Mormond were then reduced to 10 men after Scott Wisley received a straight red card after he had scythed down Scott Wisley. Lawrence added a third goal after Allan could only parry a shot into the path of Lawrence who stroked it home. Mormomd rallied and pulled a goal back with a 20-yard free kick from Daniel Smith. Invercairn sub-Gary Patterson added a fourth after a scramble inside the box tom end the season.

Banff Rovers kept their slim chances of winning the league with a 4-nil win over a Haven Team who have been struggling for results this year. It ended in a comfortable win by Banff scoring 4 times without a reply. Banff scorers were Chris Blackwell with two and one a piece from Keith Sopel and Chris MacDonald.

Buchanhaven kept up their impressive form of lately after beating Haven scoring twice without conceding. The goals were scored by hitman Lewis Brown and striker Ewen Mcleman. This is the clubs best run of form with five straight wins in a row.

NewDeer faced Station Bar in another league 1 match and it was the away side that took all three points scoring 3 times and keeping a clean sheet. The station goal scorers were Mark Walker with a double and one from Marc Cordiner.

Newline Building Services League 1 - Cuminestown had Glenugie United as opponents. Glenugie started the game well, keeping the ball and waiting to create chances. This eventually paid off when glenugie broke from a Cuminestown corner, with Cameron brown laying off Mark Thompson who volleyed the ball over their keeper from around 20 yards.

The second goal was from a Ben McKenzie kick, which bounced kindly over the two defenders to Cameron Brown who raced through to get his first of the game.

Glenugie started well in the second half with good passing, and we started to apply more pressure. This paid off when Martin Best burst through two defenders into the box to set up brownies 2nd.

The 4th goal was a clipped ball over from Calum Fraser, which Cameron Brown again managed to burn the defenders for pace and get clear to complete his hattrick.

Glenugie were heading for a clean sheet until the ball broke through and Ross Mann took down their striker in the box with a last-ditch tackle. The penalty taker dispatched to Ben’s left, with Ben almost getting a hand to it.

Link Up secured promotion back to League One after a five-year absence with a second 9-2 home win in the space of a few days after a dominant triumph over Peterhead United.

After just seven minutes Link Up opened the scoring when David Dalgarno's through ball sent Iain BISSET racing, managing to get well clear of his marker and finishing across the keeper.

Dalgarno could have made it 2-0 moments later when he beat the offside trap to find himself in on goal, and although he rounded the keeper a United defender managed to get back in time to prevent the finish.

Martin Sinclair made a strong one-handed stop as the early chances continued to flow, and it was the visitors who drew level after 12 minutes when a cross from the left floated straight in at the back post.

But just three minutes later the Lizzie regained their lead when the United keeper fumbled in Calum Angus' corner from the right.

Shane Wall's glancing header from a terrific Bisset cross was only kept out by the bar, with Mark Mackintosh's long range drive on the rebound forcing a decent stop out of the goalkeeper.

Mackintosh had another sight of goal when his header from a corner clipped the outside of the post, but Link Up made sure of a third just before the half-hour.

Sinclair's kickout was flicked on by Dalgarno with WALL taking it round the keeper on his first touch and knocking it into an unguarded net.

Shortly after provider turned goalscorer when Aaron MacDonald fed DALGARNO inside the six-yard box to knock home.

And the game looked to be wrapped up by the interval when WALL tucked away a spot kick after a Peterhead defender was penalised for handball.

It was six right on half-time when Dalgarno broke clear on the left and his ball across the face inviting BISSET to make sure at the back post.

The goals continued in the second half with MacDonald teeing up WALL and then delivering the corner for Keith-David NICOL.

And WALL got his fourth of the evening by rounding the keeper late on.

Peterhead got a consolation right at the end as Link Up stopped just short of hitting a milestone century of league goals.

Promotion has been secured but the league title is what was in Link Up's scope from the off - and a title decider against Methlick still to come.

Methlick had Boddam United in a league 2 game, and it was always going to be a tough one for the visitors with the free scoring Methlick. It ended in a very comfortable win for the home side scoring 11 times without reply. PA Bruce replied for the Haven with a goal from the penalty spot.

New Pitsligo faced Mormond Thistle and this one was another close game with the away side winning by the odd goal in five. The Mormond goals came from Daniel Smith, Ryan Grieg and Sandy Maitland and replying for the home side was Ryan Gordon with both goals.

Bellslea fighting relegation third year have a fight on their hands when they entertained strong Banff Rovers side who have equipped themselves well this season and for 82 minutes gone it was 1 all but the away side hit four times inside the last eight minutes to keep them second in the league. The wining goals came from Bradley Henderson with a brace and one a piece from Chris McDonald, Branden Watson and Josh Tomlinson and from the home side was one from Drew Masson. After a first half incident, both sides ended the match with 10 men after Bellslea had Kristopher Maitland and Banff had Kevin Sopel sent off.

Newline Building Supplies league 2 - Methlick travelled the short distance to face Cuminestown knowing a win would do and at half time it was level at 1 all but the visitors scored another 4 second half goals and Town only replied with one to end the game with Methlick 5-2 winners. Methlick scorers were James Gracey with another hatrick and a brace from Mitchel Reid and for Cuminestown was Ryan Acott and Jamie Benzie.

Boddam faced the free scoring Macduff side who have had a good season so far and they proved to good for the young Boddam side and went on to win by scoring 9 times without reply. MacDuff scorers were Kieran Neish, Dan Taylor, Nojus Cernausskes and Logan Golias all netting a brace each and an own goal.

Glenugie United travelled to face Ardallie knowing a win was a must for them to stay in the promotion hunt. Glenugie had a slow start to the game but were well in control, keeping the ball well and waiting for the right opportunities. Eventually Euan Culley broke the deadlock with a surging run past 2 or 3 defenders before firing into the bottom left.

Around 30 minutes in, Euan Culley won a free kick, which an Ardallie player disagreed with as he threw the ball at his face, resulting in a red card. A second Ardallie player disagreed with the red card and ‘voiced his concerns,’ resulting in a second red card, leaving Ardallie with nine men with around 60 minutes to play.

HT 0-1

The second half was played at a slower pace, with Glenugie looking to keep the ball and create well worked chances.

Callum Gasson doubled the Ugie’s advantage when he got on the end of a Mark Thompson cross, stroking the ball home into the far-right corner, and he managed to make it 3-0 shortly after, slotting the ball between the keepers’ legs after running onto a Scott Tonks through ball.

Cameron Brown joined in the goal scoring, racing past the Ardallie defence to send the ball into the back of the net.

The fifth goal was another cross from mark Thompson, this time lofted from the left to the back right of the box, finding Dean Donald who volleyed it straight back into the left hand side of the goals for his first goal for the club.

The sixth goal was arguably the best of the night, with Euan Donald finding himself trapped near the by line to the left of the goals. He managed to Cruyff turn his way out back towards goals and fire across to the back post from the tightest of angles to score his third of the season!.
