MARCUS Goodall believes he may never score a better goal than the one that trigger Buckie Thistle's big win over Brora Rangers.

Goodall smashed a volley home with his weaker foot to open the scoring in Jags' 5-0 demolition of the reigning champs at Victoria Park on Wednesday.

"I just screamed for the ball from Max (Barry)," he said. "It fell on my left side and my weak foot and I kind of looked up to see if there was anything in the box.

"I just thought I would go for it and luckily it went in. It was clean on the volley.

"I said to everybody it was probably the best goal I will score in my career. With it being the left foot it was a rare collector’s item for me."

Ex-Ross County player Goodall said it was his 15th strike of the campaign, a fine return for a winger who spent part of the season on loan at Huntly, where he scored three times.

He has now reset his goals target for the campaign in an effort to boost Jags' championship aspirations.

"I had a target of ten at the start of the season but I went to 15 and now I am aiming for 20 by the end of the season.

"I think we have seven games left so I’m hoping I can get a few more.

"At the start of the season folk were saying that we didn’t have a recognised striker but with everybody chipping in goals, you don’t really need it.

"There’s goals coming from defence, Jack Murray has seven and Sam Morrison has scored a few so it’s coming from all over the park.

"We’ve got the best defensive record in the league as well so that is something we want to keep hold of.

"You look at a game against Brora thinking if you drop points it will be even tougher to win the league. But the experienced boys in the squad keep saying it is just another game to tick off.

"We are now looking to Wick and another tough game on Saturday.

"We could win every game over the rest of the season and still not win the league, which would obviously be gutting.

"We can only focus on ourselves and keep winning, that is all we can do and not get too distracted by the league table and how the Broch is getting on.

"We can only keep winning and do our own bit."
