The former Rothes, Buckie Thistle and Lossiemouth defender stepped down after Saturday’s 2-0 Championship defeat at home to Cruden Bay.

Macrae was appointed in April and brought in a raft of new signings over the summer months.

Vale said he was quitting because of health and personal reasons. Succeeding him in the role is current coach Jim Brindle, who along with Kyran Dyer and Martin Christie is staying on.
