IT WAS stalemate at Princess Royal Park on Saturday when local rivals Deveronvale and Turriff United played out a thrilling 3-3 draw.

The match was entertaining from start to finish and saw a dramatic climax with two injury time goals.

The Banffers got their noses in front in the third minute when Kevin Adams played the ball to Colin Charlesworth and his drilled ball across the goal was deflected past Stephen Coutts by Lewis Davidson.

Soon after a Graeme Watt cross was almost turned into his own net by Stuart Taylor but the ball smacked against the crossbar and bounced out.

Michele Lombardi then struck a 20 yard shot just over the crossbar with Kyle Rae supplier

Gary Harris then began to exert his influence on the game and after running the Vale defence ragged, his curled effort was tipped past the post for a corner by Vale keeper Darren McConnachie.

However, Harris got his reward and Turriff’s equaliser two minutes later when he beat two defenders before smashing the ball home.

Lombardi had the final chance in the first half but again his shot was over the crossbar, this time from a John Urquhart through ball.

Early in the second half Lewis Davidson was on hand to clear a Rae header off the goal line, before Harris was once again denied by McConnachie.

The game then turned sour with a double sending off. Gary Davidson’s wild challenge earned him a straight red card, while John Urquhart was also sent off for comments made in his reaction to the tackle.

A Watt corner was met by Scott Fraser but Mark Simpson was on hand to block it away.

Another ball was sent in by Watt again finding Fraser and although Coutts made the save, Kris Duncan was there to score the rebound.

Turriff’s Robbie Henderson levelled within five minutes of taking to the field, taking a Paul Young pass in his stride to fire a low shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net from 15 yards.

Deveronvale seemed to have won the game when they regained the lead in the 91st minute through Fraser with the big centre back meeting a Charlesworth cross with a header that found the bottom right hand corner of the net.

However, Turriff would not give up with Young playing a perfect through ball to Nick Gray who became the fourth different sub to net as he fired a shot into the top left hand corner to bring the curtain down on dramatic match.
