A HAT-trick from on-form Lori Lappin helped Buckie Ladies to a convincing win against Clach on Sunday at Portgordon.

The visitors took the lead with a 30-yard screamer against the run of play before Karen Brockie levelled the score. Lappin's first strike of the afternoon saw Buckie go in at half time 2-1 up, pouncing after the Clach keeper spilled a Brockie shot.

Two more Lappin goals put Buckie 4-1 before winger Georgia Officer – playing in only her second competitive game – added a fifth for the hosts with Clach getting a late consolation following a corner.

It was another good afternoon at the office for Buckie manager Laura Duncan and her squad.

She said: "It was another good win for us.

"Clach's goal came out of nowhere; we lost possession in midfield and their player hit her shot from around 30 yards and it flew in.

"However, the rest of the game went to plan. We've been working a lot in training on possession and it's paying off. The conditions were hot for the players so it's testament to their fitness that they kept it up for the whole game.

"I was chuffed for Lori getting her hat-trick, she's really on form. I'm delighted for Georgia, too getting her first goal in only her second game. She's quite new to football – she plays hockey at uni – but she's really taken to it."

With second place Orkney not playing, the win leaves Buckie six points clear having played a game more than their challengers, who they play next week at Bught Park, Inverness.

Duncan added: "This is a big one against Orkney and probably a key game of the season.

"At the moment we're six points clear and they have a game in hand. If we win on Sunday that moves us nine points clear.

"If we play like we can play I'm quietly confident we can get a result."

Kick off is scheduled for 1.45pm – follow Buckie Ladies Facebook page for match updates.
