BUCKIE Ladies' first ever league clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle was to prove a towsy affair, the latter running out 4-1 winners at Merson Park.

The visitors scored with just 10 seconds on the clock, Karen Brockie ensuring the sides went in at half time level. However, two unstoppable efforts helped Caley on the way to a scoreline which flattered them.

Buckie manager Mel Smith said: "It was a very scrappy game and the two sides were pretty even throughout.

"They weren't as good a side as we originally thought they'd be and we adapted well to their change of tactics when they stuck three up top.

"I think a lack of composure probably cost us on the day."

Buckie do not have long to wait for revenge – the sides are set to clash in Inverness this coming Sunday. See Buckie Ladies' Facebook page for kick-off details.
