The 24 hour running challenge which was originally thought of by the Inverurie Loco's involves each player of the team having an allocated running hour over a 24 hour period to raise funds for local causes.

After being nominated to do the challenge by Colony Park Amateurs, Kintore AFC will run from midnight on Friday through until midnight on Saturday July 4.

The team at Kintore AFC have chosen to donate their funds to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland as this a charity close to their hearts after club treasurer Jim Dey had a stroke in January this year.

Kintore AFC had a starting target goal of fundraising £500 and their current total is now at £905 before Fridays event has taken place and is still rising with donations from the local public.

Rory Fraser from Kintore AFC commented: “We have 21 players taking part them myself and another coach and one ex player who was more than happy to help us out.

“We are raising funds for Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland.

“This charity has become close to us over the past year after our club treasurer Jim Dey had a stroke in January.

“Everyone who has had anything to do with Kintore AFC over the years will understand the amount of hard work time and effort Jim puts in to help run the club so successfully.

“Thankfully, Jim is recovering well now and we all can not wait to see him back at the football when it all returns.

“It has been brilliant to see all the other team raise great amounts during this troubling times."
