New Inverurie Locos manager Andy Low's first game at home ended in a 4-0 defeat to Fraserburgh.

The Railwaymen welcomed new signings Sam Robertson and Jonny Smith into the squad.

Fraserburgh defender Bryan Hay opened the scoring in the Highland League game on Saturday, which was followed by a Connor Wood goal.

In the second half, The Broch extended their lead through Ryan Sargent and then Scott Barbour sealed the victory.

The home side had an early chance when the ball was played to Sam Robertson and his shot went wide of the post.

Calum Dingwall sent in a corner which found Sam Robertson but he was under pressure and his effort did not hit the target.

Fraserburgh had an opportunity when the ball came to Sargent, however, Locos goalkeeper Andy Reid dealt with the threat.

The visitors then took the lead from a corner which eventually got to Hay and he was able to get the final touch on the ball to get it over the line.

The Broch were starting to stamp their authority on the game with Logan Watt trying a long range effort which was hit straight at Andy Reid.

Locos came close to equalising when Sam Robertson hit in a looping effort towards goal which struck the crossbar.

Fraserburgh were on the attack again and a cross was played to Sargent at close range who saw another shot saved by Andy Reid and the ball went out of play.

From the resultant corner the cross was headed into the net by Wood who extended his team's lead just before half-time.

In the second half The Broch continued to look dangerous. The ball came to Logan Watt who hit a long range shot which was saved by Andy Reid.

Shortly after the visitors made it 3-0 when a great move saw the ball played to Sargent and he sent it past the goalkeeper.

Fraserburgh had a chance to increase their lead through Barbour in a good position but his effort was too weak.

At the other end substitute Jonny Smith headed the ball to Garry Wood who put his shot wide of the goal.

The Broch completed the scoring when Barbour was played in and he made no mistake for his team's fourth goal.

Inverurie Locos manager Andy Low said: "It was a decent first half, I thought it was competitive and we played some really good football at times.

"We maybe edged it and then we were hit by two sucker punches in the set pieces and that had a huge influence on the second half.

"It shouldn't of and we tried to pick them up and push them on to get the first goal in the second half and do the things they were doing in open play to see if we could get ourselves back into the game.

"But it's as if we were still sulking from the way that we conceded those first half goals and it impacted the whole second half performance.

"Set pieces are an easy thing that you can sort, it is something you can work on in training. What worried me was the response to it and that is something that is going to have to be worked on over time.

"It has been a tough start playing Buckie and Fraserburgh but the good thing is you know where you are at.

"They are two teams that are above us in the league and in the end they have showed that quality.

"We are where we are but it is not something that I'm going to accept going forward. We will learn from it and hope that we can kick on.

"I was delighted to get Sam Robertson and Jonny Smith in this week. I felt the team lacked goals and that is something I am going to have to work on in training because we've now got goals in that squad.

"We have Garry Wood, Jonny Smith, Sam Robertson, Robert Ward and Nathan Meres.

"We now need to get in the positions where these players can impact games and get the goals they are capable of.

"There is a lot of work to be done. I knew it wouldn't be easy to start with, it's been a difficult couple of weeks but I've learnt a lot along the way."
