Huntly Nordic Ski Club success at Scottish Rollerski Championships in Lochgelly

The Scottish Rollerski Championships in Lochgelly, Fife drew a strong entry from Huntly Nordic Ski Club.

Skiers, coaches, and supporters from the club headed south to Fife Cycle Park in Lochgelly and a total of 17 club members took part in races from 1km to 9.6km.

In the 1km novice race, there was success for the Huntly club with Carys Simpson taking first place and team-mate Lois Simpson coming in third.

Astrid Ipsen won the under-12 girls’ race and Annabelle Medler won the under 14s, also for Huntly Nordic Ski Club.

Further successes for the club came in the under-14 boys, which was won by Ellis Simpson with Robert Bate finishing third.

In the under-16 categories, Elspeth Cruikshank won the girls category with Sophie Forth coming in in second place.

Rasmus Ipsen came third in the under-16 boys’ race and Logan Duncan was second in the under-18 boys’ race.

In the senior categories, David Horsley came third in the veteran category.

The day ended with a team sprint race. Huntly’s Logan Duncan and Rasmus Ipsen came second ahead of Elspeth Cruikshank and Sophie Forth in third.

The next races in the five-race Scottish Rollerski Series will be held in Huntly on September 10.
