HAUGHS keeper Fraser Hobday says Saturday's game at Lossiemouth has been pinpointed as a must-win.

United have experienced another difficult start, registering just eight points from a possible 36 so far.

Hobday insists that the game against a side rooted to the bottom of the table and with only four goals to their name has been highlighted as one on the fixture calender where failure to win is simply not an option.

He commented: “It's important to keep a professional attitude.

“We go into every game trying to get a win.

“Where we are in the league and where Lossiemouth are it's important we target the three points, it's massive.

“Nothing less than three points [will do] really, it's the same for them too.

“It's going to be a tough game, you know what you're going to get when you head to Lossie, it's usually windy up there.

“They need the three points as well so it will be interesting.”

Once again the Turriff squad has been flooded with youngsters, many of whom are playing senior football for the first time.

What hasn't helped is the team rotation – Hobday has seldom had a consistent back four playing in front of him, whether it be to injury or loss of form.

It's a similar situation to what he experienced at Huntly when the Christie Park men were scratching around the depths of the table.

But the shotstopper believes the kids have the ability to haul United out of a patchy spell.

“It's been another tough start to a season for us”, he added.

“The young lads just need confidence and that little bit of time.

“They are young, they are going to make mistakes but they have to keep learning from their mistakes.

“I do feel that some of the mistakes we've made have been similar [to last season] but we're now in a position where at all costs we need to win games.

“You have to look at the good performances we've had – we went down to Fort William and we showed great character to come back after we lost the third goal.

“It was the young lads who drove us forward – Robert Ward has been absolutely fantastic for us, he's a real driving force going forward.

“I think we just have to take positives from the games we've played in, learn from our mistakes and throw away the negatives, and hopefully it all comes together and we get three points.

He continued: “That's another thing that's not helped us a lot, the fact there's not really been a settled team.

“Players have been in and out of the squad and it never helps.

“Sometimes you have to bear with and keep going.

“I've seen it before at Huntly when I was there and we were in a similar position.

“I'm noticing similar traits and have a settled team is always handy.

“But we're not getting the results.

“I suppose the thing is to let the players that aren't having the chance to make an impact on the game to come in and see what they've got.

“But the less results you get, the more likely the team will change.

“I do feel that having a settled team and a back four is the most beneficial thing for the team.”
